So last year we got a grant from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund for Double Glazing and a Solar Installation with batteries to reduce our energy consumption, which is down a third compared to the same period last year. And I think you’ll agree it feels more welcoming as a result.
So this year – our aim is to upgrade the kitchen to create a modern commercial standard community kitchen with facilities to allow us to cater for large events and also offer space for cookery workshops for teaching new skills. The work plans to include relocating the chair storage to make way for a larder area.
To achieve this we have already, through Community support over £14,800 from our Crowdfunder, donations and fundraising. The Parish Council has granted £700 and Devon County Council a further £2000 towards the project.
And yesterday we were notified the National Lottery have awarded us a further £20,000 !!
That’s a whopping £37,500 raised so far !!
We are also waiting to hear if we’ve been successful with another grant application for an Audio Visual system and — heating in the toilets! Hooray, not before time, I hear…
If we are successful with this grant we can access a further £11,969 grant from the Government Jubilee fund, which is dependent on us securing 80% of the required project fund in advance. We need a total of £56,000 to achieve this.
So work will start in the New Year to create our dream kitchen and upgrades at the Hall.
